imageFORCE Technology
D² — Defined and Detailed — is the exposure technology inside Canon's A3 imageFORCE devices. It prints at 4800 × 2400 dpi, four times a conventional office copier: fine lines, sharp reversed-out type, smooth tones, and accurate color, so brochures, posters, and proposals can be printed in-house.

See the Difference
Four details cut from Canon's imageFORCE C7165 print samples. Left of the handle is what a conventional 1200 × 1200 dpi engine does with them; right is D² Exposure Technology.
Conventional · 1200 × 1200 dpiD² Exposure Technology · 4800 × 2400 dpiFloor plan from Canon's Real Estate print sample. The conventional side is a screen simulation of a coarser halftone and slight plate misregistration so the difference is visible on a monitor — bring a file to our showroom for the real thing.
By the Numbers
Canon's conventional office engines expose the drum at 1200 or 2400 dpi. D² Exposure Technology reaches 4800, with a light spot less than half the conventional size — and the rated print speed doesn't change to get it.
Who Notices
Memos look fine at 1200 dpi. The difference shows up on the work that carries your name out the door.
Listing sheets with floor plans, square footage, and small-type disclosures — printed in-house the morning of the showing, not ordered from a shop a week ahead.
Patient education, wayfinding, and program posters where thin rules, small type, and brand color all have to survive a wall-mounted print.
Recruiting posters, event signage, and research presentations with photographs that need to hold up at arm's length and across a lobby.
Drawings and schematics at ledger size where a hairline is the difference between a wall and a door swing.
Brochures, sell sheets, and proposals with tints, gradients, and logos that previously justified an outside print run.
Contracts, exhibits, and statements where fine print and dense tables have to stay legible on the page, not just on screen.
Models with D² Exposure Technology
Five series, fifteen models. Pick by speed and color; the 4800 × 2400 dpi resolution is the same across the range. Each model has its own page with specs and the Canon brochure.
