About the Color imageCLASS X MF1538C II

The Color imageCLASS X MF1538C II is the most capable desktop machine in the ABC Canon lineup: a 40-page-per-minute color multifunction printer for small to mid-size workgroups that prints, copies, scans, sends, and faxes from a 7-inch color touchscreen. Its 100-sheet single-pass feeder scans both sides of a page at up to 200 images per minute in color or black-and-white, and its fax memory holds up to 30,000 pages. It is made in a TAA-compliant country, so the US federal government can procure it. The LBP1538C II is the print-only version.

The 1538C II series prints at up to 1200 × 1200 dpi with UFR II, PCL 6, and Adobe PostScript 3 standard, two-sided printing out of the box, and warm-up from power-on in 4 seconds or less. Scans go to email, network folders, WebDAV, or USB as PDF/A, searchable or encrypted PDF, XPS, or editable Word and PowerPoint files. Print from Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android devices with AirPrint, Mopria, Universal Print, or the Canon PRINT app; Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet are both standard. Paper capacity starts at 650 sheets and grows to 2,300 with optional 550-sheet Paper Feeder PF-D1 units, and the T10 toners are rated for up to 13,000 pages black and 10,000 each color.

The 7-inch touch panel is unique to the imageCLASS X line and mirrors the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX interface, with picture login and a customized experience for each user. Documents are held in short-term memory only, Verify System at Startup checks firmware at boot and recovers automatically, Trellix Embedded Control blocks malware and tampering while the machine runs, and an audit log feeds SIEM tools. Authorized Send Compact adds CAC/PIV authentication for government environments, and uniFLOW Online, offered through Canon Office Cloud, adheres to FedRAMP standards.

    A first color page in about 7.3 seconds, black-and-white in 6.4, and 40 pages a minute either way at up to 1200 × 1200 dpi. Rated for 2,000 to 10,000 pages a month.

  • 200 ipm single-pass duplex scanning and fax

    Both sides of a page in one pass at up to 200 ipm in color or black-and-white from the 100-sheet feeder, to email, folders, WebDAV, or USB as searchable PDF, PDF/A, or editable Word and PowerPoint. Super G3 fax holds up to 30,000 pages.

  • 7-inch touchscreen with picture login

    The largest panel in the imageCLASS X line, consistent with the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX series. Users log in with a picture, PIN, or mobile device and get a home screen tailored to them.

  • Runtime intrusion protection

    Trellix Embedded Control uses whitelisting to block malware and tampering while the machine runs. Verify System at Startup checks firmware at boot and recovers automatically, a FIPS 140-2 validated module protects data in transit, and an audit log feeds your SIEM.

  • TAA compliant, government ready

    Made in a TAA-compliant country for federal procurement. Authorized Send Compact adds CAC/PIV authentication on the touchscreen, and uniFLOW Online through Canon Office Cloud adheres to FedRAMP standards.

  • 650 to 2,300 sheets, Legal size

    A 550-sheet cassette and 100-sheet stack bypass standard; add up to three 550-sheet Paper Feeder PF-D1 units on Cabinet Type-P, or two on the Cassette Feeding Unit-AV1. The bypass handles stock to 58 lb bond.
