imagePROGRAF TM-500A compact 24-inch printer for crisp CAD lines and vivid posters on plain paper.
Best for: Small offices, schools, and retail locations that print occasional D-size drawings and in-house posters in a compact space
Overview
The imagePROGRAF TM-500 is the 24-inch entry point to Canon's new TM Series, a compact printer for CAD drawings, posters, banners, and flyers. It prints up to 2.4 ARCH D (24 × 36 inch) pages a minute from one top-loading roll 8 to 24 inches wide, and at about 38.5 inches wide and 88 lb it can sit on a desktop or on the optional SD-24 stand with catch basket.
Its five-color LUCIA TD pigment ink set includes an updated Matte Black that produces crisper lines, sharper text, and more vivid posters on plain paper than the previous TM Series. Gravity-fed sub ink tanks use virtually every drop and can be changed while the printer keeps printing, and the printer detects media type, length, and width automatically when you load a roll.
Security is built in, with Secure Boot, TLS 1.3, SNMPv3, 802.1X, a secure event log, pattern printing, and PIN code authorization. USB, Gigabit Ethernet, and Wi-Fi are standard, Mopria and AirPrint let people print from phones and tablets without installing drivers, and PosterArtist, Direct Print Plus, Free Layout Plus, and Accounting Manager are included. The TM-500 is EPEAT Gold registered, ENERGY STAR certified, and Mopria certified.
Key features
Matte black, black, cyan, magenta, and yellow pigments. The updated Matte Black produces crisper lines, sharper text, and more vivid posters on plain paper than the previous TM Series.
At about 38.5 inches wide and 88 lb, the TM-500 fits on a desktop with the optional BU-07 basket or on the optional SD-24 stand. A flat-body design keeps media loading simple, and every control is at the front on an adjustable touchscreen.
Feed in a roll and the printer determines the media type, length, and width on its own and shows them on the display.
Gravity-fed ink tanks let the printer use virtually every drop, and you can change a tank while the printer keeps printing.
Secure Boot restores a known-good BIOS if tampering is detected, TLS 1.3 encrypts data between computer and printer, and SNMPv3, 802.1X, a secure event log, pattern printing, and PIN code authorization help protect the device and your documents.
Mopria Print Service connects Android and Windows devices without installing drivers, AirPrint covers iPhone and iPad, and USB, Gigabit Ethernet, and Wi-Fi are built in.
Buying guide
The imagePROGRAF TM-500 is for offices that print D-size drawings and posters some days but not all day: small architecture and engineering practices, contractors, schools, real estate offices, and retail or restaurant locations that make their own signage. It reads CAD files natively through HP-GL/2 and HP RTL, the updated Matte Black keeps fine lines crisp on plain paper, and its 38.5-inch-wide body fits on a desk when floor space is tight.
The trade-off is ink capacity and speed. The TM-500 ships with 55 ml color tanks and an 80 ml Matte Black, and every replacement tank is 55 ml, which suits light, occasional printing. If you print daily, the TM-510 takes 130 ml or 300 ml tanks and runs faster at 2.9 D-size prints a minute. If you need E-size sheets, the TM-600 gives the same compact design 36 inches of width.
The TM-600 is the 36-inch version of the TM-500, with the same five LUCIA TD inks and 55 ml tanks; it prints E-size sheets, runs slightly faster at 2.7 D-size prints a minute, and comes with a catch basket.
See the Canon imagePROGRAF TM-600The TM-510 keeps the 24-inch width but ships with 130 ml Matte Black and 90 ml color tanks, takes 130 ml or 300 ml replacements, prints 2.9 D-size pages a minute, and adds a stackable basket; the TM-510M also builds in a scanner.

The GP-200 is built for signage, with Fluorescent Pink ink, a 500 GB hard drive, and USB thumb-drive printing, while the TM-500 centers on CAD drawings with HP-GL/2 support and an updated Matte Black for crisp lines on plain paper.

The imagePROGRAF TM-500 is the same everywhere. What's different is the 44 years of local service behind it.
We deliver, unbox, place, and connect the device to your network and every workstation that needs it. You print the first page before we leave.
A Canon-certified technician walks your staff through the panel, scanning workflows, and the everyday things that generate service calls when nobody explains them.
Supplies ship before you run out, based on your device's own meter readings. Genuine Canon consumables only, so your warranty and image quality stay intact.
Local technicians dispatched from our office in Old Hickory, not a national ticket queue. Average response is under four hours.
Lease, rent, or buy. Separate color and mono cost-per-page, no hidden escalators, and a person who answers questions about the contract by name.
The same person from proposal through the life of the system. They know your account, your volumes, and when it's time to talk about what's next.
Call, email, or send a message — whichever is easiest for you. We'll take it from there.
